Foods to Introduce by Stage

6 to 8 months — First Foods

Dal ka paani, rice water, ragi porridge, moong dal, mashed banana, apple puree, sweet potato puree, carrot puree. Single ingredient at a time. Wait 3 days before introducing next food.

9 to 12 months — Mixed Textures

Khichdi, idli, soft rice, mashed family foods, curd, paneer, soft cooked egg yolk, well-cooked lentils, soft fruits, small pieces of soft vegetables.

13 to 18 months — Family Foods

Most family foods with mild spice. Roti, dosa, upma, poha, chapati, fish, chicken, egg, all vegetables, all fruits, nuts ground fine, seeds.

19 to 24 months — Full Toddler Diet

Everything in the family diet with normal texture. 5 meals a day plus 200ml milk at bedtime. Encourage self-feeding with spoon.
